52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks: Week 4 – Overlooked

The Overlooked Polish Side of my Family Tree

This weeks theme is overlooked, which person have I overlooked? Well it’s not so much of a person than a side of my tree.

My grandfather Hubert Karol SUSEK (1926-2003) was born in Poland. I do not know much about this branch of my family. I have some names, which my grandfather could remember.

Looking for Polish records has not been easy, what is available online has not yielded many results, if any. I don’t speak or read Polish, which doesn’t help. Although you can view some of the Polish sites in English, they can be tricky to navigate. I have to admit, I had put this part of the family tree into the too hard basket, with an aim to visit it at a later date.

I have recently found a DNA match on My Heritage for a descendant of my grandfathers paternal Aunt. This has now brought this branch back to the forefront. Maybe its time to revisit this branch.
